Individual Preparation Children’s Ministry
Here are some things you can be doing to prepare you for your children’s ministry:
- Work with children in your local church.
- Evangelism training: Learn how to share with children and to teach them to share their faith. One good resource can be found at http://www.kidzplace.org/. Check out the Children’s Leader Resources at the side for information to read and use. This site has free activities, VBS materials, evangelism tools, and much more, brought to you by the North American Mission Board.
- Familiarize yourself with Backyard Bible Club and VBS material. Check with local Baptist Association office and Baptist Bookstore for sample copies. Attend a VBS or BYBC training seminar offered by the local Baptist Association.
- Work on your scripture memorization.
- Read a good book on Prayer Walking like: Prayer Walking: Praying on Site with Insight by Hawthorn and Kendrick or Walking the Talk by Dan Crawford and Calvin Miller.
- Physical fitness. Exercise on a regular basis.
- Have a plan for several children fellowships: skits, games, devotionals, music.
- Prepare 4‐5 Bible studies for children. Include craft ideas.
- Evangelism training: Learn how to share with children and to teach them to share their faith.
